Salamanca y Valladolid

Wow, what a FABULOUS trip this was!  Salamanca is breathtaking. Upon arriving, we walked to the plaza and ate pastries.

This is my attempt to take an artsy photo, haha

We took funny photos while waiting for the tour

This building caused a lot of controversy to the university because it is impossible to see the entire façade of the building because this one is too close.

This is another building of the university, and there is a hidden frog that is meant to bring good luck to students for their exams

Can you see it?

How about now?

And now?

And now for some of the beautiful architecture:

Also, on this very old cathedral, there is a random spaceman!

Random beautiful cúpula

That night, there was also a music festival going on, so we decided to spend part of the night outside in the plaza and in front of the university people watching.

Saturday, we went to Valladolid, which is where Mabel is from.  It was fun!

More architecture:

While walking, we went to a shopping pathway and I found a giraffe!!

We also found random cookies with Frodo on them

Mikaela has never seen Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, so she saw these and was so excited to say it was Dumbledore...

They're of Gandalf, but the difference is very slight

On the way home to Alcalá, we stopped at a bodega (winery) to eat, and it was AMAZING!

We climbed down dozens of cold steps to a beautiful restaurant

It was probably the best food we've eaten, and we have eaten some INCREDIBLE food.

It was a lovely restaurant

Afterwards, they took us on a tour of the winery.  They use the greek myth of Dionysus (sp?) to organize their wine.

It was quite a fun tour

  1. Now I'm hungry. And thirsty actually. I need some milk and those adorable cookies. Mikaela is hilarious. That frog is so random. The tour sounds pretty cool!
